That's what we do here, without even the test for debug. This UUCP _never_ generates wrong-time-to-call errors, and doesn't touch the .Status file either. If you've got debugging on, it's obvious from the transcript why the call failed, and the log entry is useless. We've got a lot of call-never sites, archive sites that are only called at night, sites that aren't called while filesystem cleanup is going on (because it makes the uucico run too slow), and a few people who we don't call at night because they're supposed to call us to pick up news.
