I've always regarded ANY self-extracting program as a possible source of a 
virus, trojan horse or similar animal.  As such, I simply refuse to even
consider taking a look at ANY program that comes in such formats.  When
your livelihood depends on the continuous sanity of your machine, one just
cannot afford the chance.  There are a LOT of nice people out there, but 
there are a FEW jerks, too.  So, be warned.
