To use the CTape with anything other than r/wbak, you must first access the 
raw device with:

mt -f /dev/(tapedev) rewind

Then your tar/cpio commands to your tape device will work.

rct8 is the device I used. I believe other tape devices will cooperate
also.

This may also solve the gentleman's problem with catf too, but I haven't had 
the chance to try it out.
