Part 2 Message-ID: <1990Mar14.051632.8764@ncsuvx.ncsu.edu> Date: 14 Mar 90 05:16:32 GMT References: <9003140433.AA15902@apple.com> Reply-To: rnf@shumv1.ncsu.edu (Rick Fincher) Organization: NCSU Computing Center Lines: 27 I got a second cartrige for the 45 meg removable and confirmed that it works just like a big floppy, ie eject a cartrige and the icon greys out, put in a new cartrige and the new icon(s) appear on the desktop. So you can copy one 42 meg disk to another with one drive. Afew notes: 1: The IIgs hangs if you boot without a cartrige and the power is on. It boots OK with the power off to the 45 meg, even if the cartridge is write protected. 2: Write protected cartridges won't mount on the desktop. 3: Going to ProDos applications and back to GS/OS causes weird problems. The icons remain on the finder destop for the removable volumes but they are greyed out and the cartridges won't mount. 4: GS/OS 5.0 or greater is required (ProDos 8 won't work except like a regular SCSI drive. 5: Other than the minor glitches above, they work great! This is definately my next purchase! 6: Cost is $749 from Ehman Engineering, 1-800-257-1666. 45 meg (42 formatted) cartridges cost about $79 each. Rick Fincher rnf@shumv1.ncsu.edu
