There is only one kind of APDA membership.  It costs $20 per year in the U.S.,
$25 per year in Canada and Mexico, and $35 per year elsewhere.  When you
join APDA you receive four quarterly issues of the APDAlog product catalog
and the ability to order any of our products.  This includes preliminary
documentation and beta products, as well as final finished products and
manuals.  You can contact APDA at (800) 282-2732 (in the U.S.),
(800) 637-0029 (in Canada), or (408) 562-3910 (elsewhere).  Or, you can write:

The several hundred dollar program you are referring to may be the Apple
Partners and Associates program.  This program offers a much higher level
of support including:  regular developer mailings, system software updates,
automatic subscription to Technical Notes, access to Developer Technical
Support via e-mail, AppleLink account, and much much more.  For more
information on this program, call the Apple Developer Hotline at
(408) 974-4897.  The Apple Partners and Associates program is only available
to U.S. Developers.  For developer programs in other countries, contact your
local Apple office for details.
