Sounds to me like you have made the classical mistake of buying a computer with no clear idea of what you want to use it for, rather than having a definite need and selecting a system (hardware and software) that will best fill that need. I suggest you contact your local DEC marketing office and see if they can supply a copy of the Rainbow Handbook and any other Rainbow material they might still have on hand; if not, maybe they can tell you where to get it. Also, you should ask for a referral to your local DECUS rep and attend a meeting of the Rainbow or VAX LUG in your area.
