I have been reading all the poop on the new HP calculator, and it appears that I will have to get one (when the funds become available, that is). I do have a question about the serial communications port. I see that that there is a PC interface kit and a MacKit. The problem is that some of us have something OTHER than PCs and Macs (shudder). I read something about the 48sx using XMODEM, so can any computer/comm program that supports XMODEM talk the the 48? Looking at the ready-to- download programs posted here, there appear to be some simple ascii codes to designate a special HP character. Where does the translation take place? If it happens on the MacPC end, then a whole bunch of us are SOL. If the 48 translates then we are o.k. What is the story? Is there hope for us non-comformists? thanks for listening... +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Matt Nelson, Physics Dept., University of California, Irvine, CA 92717 (714)856-6496 internet: nelson@psroot.ps.uci.edu bitnet: mnelson@uci +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
