The year 4000 _is_ a leap year, but the rule for figuring a leap year is a little more complicated than simply dividing by four. The Gregorian calendar has a leap year every fourth year (evenly divisible by 4) except for century years (evenly divisible by 100) not divisible by 400. Whew! In other words, we have a leap year every four years, skipping the even centuries; but, to make life more interesting, every fourth century (i.e. those divisible by 400) _are_ leap years. So, the year 4000 is a leap year. Gee, does the HP48SX allow for leap seconds? :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard Steele | INTERNET : steele@en.ecn.purdue.edu Electrical Engineering | BITNET : steele%ea.ecn.purdue.edu@purccvm Purdue University | UUCP : {purdue, pur-ee}!en.ecn.purdue.edu!steele ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: I'm just an undergrad, so I really don't know what I'm talking about...
