I am interested in building an external Floppy Disk  Drive system
for Toshiba laptop 5200. Toshiba has an external 25 pin connector
labelled "FDD/PRT". There is  a 2 way switch next to it to select
one of these two. 

If I build my Floppy Drive with power supply, Can I just connect a
cable between the edge connector of the drive to Toshiba.
Then, what is the pin lay out on the Toshiba's 25 pin connector.

Is it just a matter of making a right cable or is it more than that?

If There is  a separate group to talk about Toshiba Laptop compter,
which  I do not know, please let me know.

Some ext FD manufacturer wish to sell a custom ext FD for each
Laptop and I certainly dont want to buy it.
