I recently obtained an old IBM XT with a 360K floppy drive and 10Meg Hard drive. I wanted to boost the storage capacity so I bought a 720K 3.5" floppy drive and installed it. It works fine with already-formatted disks, but when I try to format a disk (format a: /N:9 under Dos 3.3) I get "parameters not supported." Question 1: Do I need a new controller? Question2: I want to get more hard disk space as cheaply as possible; can I replace the hard disk controller with an RLL controller? Would this be risky? Thanks... dedina@cup.portal.com
