First of all, thanks to everyone who responded to my original posting. All of your comments were appreciated. Well, MacUser was the winner hands-down. I thought it would be more of a contest, but... In terms of pure numbers: Definitely MacUser: 10 MacUser by a little: 3 MacWorld: 1 Three people also said they subscribe to both magazines. Some common impressions: o MacUser seems orientated to the common user, the "rest of us", whereas MacWorld seems to cover the high-end, "glossy" stuff, and is orientated more to the business community. o Many people said they liked the "Hints and Tips" provided by MacUser o MacWorld seems to have less substance then MacUser A couple of people also mentioned that MacWorld seemed to be "Apple biased"; Apple and Claris could "do no wrong." Finally, a number of people mentioned MacWeek, and considering it is free (to most, I think?), it was worth getting. Well, I must say I was a little surprised. I seem to remember MacWorld being the more popular when the two first came out, although I have recently noticed MacUser being quite good. I would probably get both as some people suggested, but I just don't have time to handle all the magazines every month! I do like to hear about the "high-end" stuff a lot (since I can't afford it!), but considering the vast majority's preference for MacUser, I guess I'll try it! BTW, now that MacUser has been voted the "winner", I wouldn't be surprised if some MacWorld supporters would like to give their support. As such, I will still be happy to accept e-mail on the subject (pro- or con-), and will summarize again if the interest continues... Once again, thanks to all those who responded. I think the net is great for this kind of stuff! *************************************************************************** * Jason W.
