FDHD floppy drive failing on SE/30 Keywords: se_30 fdhd disk error Message-ID: <5859@udccvax1.acs.udel.EDU> Date: 13 Mar 90 19:19:37 GMT Reply-To: meese@vax1.acs.udel.EDU (Tim Meese) Followup-To: comp.sys.mac Distribution: usa Organization: University of Delaware Lines: 21 I have a friend who has a new SE/30 (but unfortunately out of the 90-day warranty :-( ) with a 40MB Quantum drive and a single FDHD floppy drive. When he tries to do a copy from the hard drive to floppy, the operation will be done one to three times, but after that, he gets a "Disk Error" (sorry, I didn't ask him for the error number) and the floppy is not readable after that. He told me that the problem seems to be intermittent with the number of disk writes until the drive fails varying. The intermittent nature seems to indicate a hardware problem... I don't know for sure. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is it a media or a hardware problem? Much thanks in advance.
