My hard drive came with a nice program that would run for ever writing to sectors and reading them, counting errors along the way. I'd like the same for testing a floppy drive. (2) I have an old 400K floppy drive that had what I've been told is a very common problem: its grease gummed up making it unable to eject disks. After application of a bit of WD-40, the drive now ejects disks, but has another problem. It now refuses to initialize disks. It will read and write to disks fine, but fails to initialize (usually failing in the verification stage before writing the directory). Has anyone seen this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
