Mea culpa.  A brief description of yapp follows:

Yapp is another in the endless series of audio playback programs for
Sparcstations.  It is distinguished from other such programs chiefly by
the following features:

- command line flags to control playback volume and audio destination
  (speaker vs. headphone jack)

- ability to automatically uncompress compressed audio files
