there's a "memtest" variable in the eeproms.  you can pop it like so:

	# /usr/etc/eeprom -
	memtest=24
	EOF				# i.e. hit ctrl-d

or grub through your EEPROM manual and find out which location it is at.
/usr/etc/eeprom has to be run as root, for good reason.
