I [think] I've just solved that problem this evening. 1) fdprintf and sprintf in n1.c should be changed so that it uses varargs. otherwise, it pulls in function arguments from nowhere. 2) makedev.c may forget to fill in biggestfont when making DESC.out. causes the "font X too big for position Y" problem all over again.
