Can anybody tell me about the availability/feasibility of an xterm
client which can open an arbitrary number of duplicate (non-interactive)
session windows via some set of specified servers?

The proposed application of this tool is in a workstation-equipped
classroom where each student could refer to an instructor's xterm
session in one window while possibly attempting to carry out a parallel
course of action in another window.  Just one advantage of this scheme
would be the avoidance of buying a video projector . . .
